£1 billion rail improvement programme

£1 billion investment for the North

Network Rail have invested £1 billion into upgrading the rail network across the North. Beginning in October 2015 and due to end December 2017, the last few years have seen one of the North Wests biggest ever rail projects, Ordsall Chord.

The Ordsall Chord stands as the largest of all 7 stages of the project which will join Manchester stations and improve connectivity across the North. Over Christmas 2016, the ‘Orange Army’ of Network Rail, Skanska Bam workers and many others, worked day and night to complete the project. 

Supporting the upgrade 

PJP Plant Hire are proud to be supporting this extensive upgrade and have played a key role in providing machines to satisfy the project’s requirements, no matter how big or small. PJP have mobilised equipment and support staff at very short notice to deliver a cost effective and safe solution, which has involved 24 hour 7 days a week operational provision.

PJP Plant Hire have a fantastic and ever changing fleet of the highest quality machines and with that have been able to supply a wide variety of plant machinery, including a number of different size telehandlers, various size excavators, recycling and material handling attachments and small tracked dumpers for work in the more confined spaces.
